THREE STRAIGHT SCORELESS MATCHES FOR LAFC

LAFC

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota United goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair earns a clean sheet as LAFC was held scoreless in a 2-0 loss Saturday before 19,315 at Allianz Field. Minnesota continues their unbeaten streak to begin the season.

Minnesota’s Robin Lod opened scoring on a setpiece in the 16th minute, punctuated in the second half by an 85’ shot by Bongi Hlongwane to assure the win against LA.

Only two saves were required for St. Clair to keep a clean sheet, marking the third straight match where LAFC is scoreless.

Reigning Golden Boot winner Denis Bouanga still has yet to score this year. A late shot to the back of the net was disallowed for offsides, keeping LAFC from consolation.

It was LAFC’s defense that failed to stop United, but the offense gave up clear chances down the stretch, missing the target and showing their rust.

Manager Steve Cherundolo might need a reset with the team following this match, as a trend in failed chance conversion seems to be the narrative for the season thus far.

Whatever it is, it’s likely a problem between the ears on the field, as the breakaway transition offense still proves itself in every match.

LAFC returns home to play Nashville SC Saturday.
